Admission to Wadsworth-Longfellow House 

• House admission is scheduled by appointment Tuesday–Saturday between 10AM - 3:30PM through advance ticketing. Walk-ins are subject to availability.
• Guided tours are offered at 1PM and 2PM on weekday afternoons. All other tours are self-guided, including all Saturday tours.
• The House closes at 12noon for a lunch break. On weekdays it reopens at 1PM; on Saturdays, 1:30.
• Groups larger than twelve (12) people may break into more than one ticket group, or book through our "Group Tour" process. Please email visitorservices@mainehistory.org for more Group Tour information.
• All tickets (guided or self-guided) are House & Gallery combo tickets, and include access to both the House and the Museum gallery. All gallery touring is self-guided.
• All combo tickets start with touring the House. House access is limited to the first hour of the ticket time, followed by gallery access.
• If you require assistance, please call 207-774-1822 x 208. However, because in-person guests are our priority, you may need to leave a message. We will return your call as soon as possible, but it may not be the same day.
• While MHS members and children age five (5) and under are free, everyone must reserve a ticket. The ticketing process helps manage guests' numbers.

For self-guided touring, please consider downloading the Wadsworth-Longfellow House app prior to your arrival. We also offer a paper-based tour brochure, but the app offers an enhanced experince.

• MHS honors NARM, ROAM, and Blue Star reciprocal membership discounts. Please book as an MHS member, and be prepared to show your NARM, ROAM, or Blue Star credentials upon arrival.

• The member ticket option is for MHS members only. 
• Gallery-only tickets are available through a separate offering.

Please check in at the Museum store. Ticket holders will first visit the House, followed by gallery access. House access for late guests is limited to the first hour of their ticket window. Ticket holders who arrive more than 30 minutes after their appointment time are not guaranteed House access but may access the gallery. 

• Backpacks or large bags and luggage are not permitted in the House or exhibit gallery spaces. Limited locker space is available for belongings.
• Food and drink are not permitted in the House or galleries.
• The use of non-flash photography is permitted, except where noted.
• The Wadsworth-Longfellow House is an historic structure, built in 1785-6. Unfortunately, the second floor is only accessible via a staircase. The W-L House app includes highlights for the second floor.
• The historic structure is naturally cooled through open doors and windows. Temperature and humidity levels are subject to the weather.

We kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.  Please be considerate and cancel an appointment if you or someone in your household is unwell. Refunds are not available for late or no-show guests.
